Expertise

Where tax and SAP meet

Six areas where things usually go wrong, and where I make them add up again. An engagement often starts in one of them and grows into the others once the foundation is in place.

Indirect tax determination

Getting the VAT logic in SAP right and keeping it right: condition technique, tax codes, place-of-supply rules and the exceptions every country invents for itself.

  • SD, MM and FI
  • Condition records & tax codes
  • Chain & triangulation

Tax engines: Vertex & Thomson Reuters

Implementation and integration of external tax engines, Vertex O Series with Accelerator+, or Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Determination and GlobalNext.

  • Vertex O Series
  • Vertex Accelerator+
  • ONESOURCE & GlobalNext

SAP DRC & statutory reporting

Setting up Document and Reporting Compliance in S/4HANA: from the eDocument framework to periodic returns and country-specific reports.

  • eDocument framework
  • Statutory reports
  • ACR migration to DRC

E-invoicing & e-reporting

Be ready before the mandate arrives. Peppol, KSeF, SdI, Factur-X and the run-up to ViDA, technically set up and tested per country.

  • Peppol & local formats
  • Clearance & post-audit
  • ViDA preparation

Withholding tax

Withholding tax that is right at the source. Extended withholding tax in SAP, treaty rates, certificates and the reporting that comes with it.

  • Extended WHT
  • Treaty rates
  • Certificates & filing

Roll-outs & country support

Rolling out a working template without every country becoming an island. Fit-gap per country, local requirements and aftercare after go-live.

  • Country fit-gap
  • Template roll-out
  • Hypercare & support

Approach

Four steps, no surprises

The same method for a nine-month engine implementation as for a two-week fit-gap. At any moment you know where we stand and what the next step will cost.

  1. Frame

What drives your tax determination today, and where does it go wrong? We map the flows, the countries and the bottlenecks, including what the business really does versus what the design assumes.

  2. Design

A concrete design: native SAP or an external engine, which countries in which wave, and what each scenario costs in licences, implementation and maintenance. You decide with all the information on the table.

  3. Build & test

Configuration, integration and test scenarios per country. Testing on real transactions, not on a handful of sample documents. That is where most implementations still fall apart.

  4. Hand over

Documentation per country, knowledge transfer to your tax and IT team, and a clear agreement on hypercare. Your team can handle the next country release on its own.

Who you get at the table

One specialist, not a team that still needs onboarding

I design and implement solutions for indirect tax and local legal requirements (“localizations”) within SAP ECC and S/4HANA. In practice that means making VAT and withholding tax logic add up in countries that each have their own rules and their own exceptions. I co-led the largest Vertex implementation in Europe, covering more than 60 countries, and led tax engine projects with Vertex and Thomson Reuters for multinationals such as LEGO, Agfa and Sibelco.

  • Indirect tax and localizations within SAP ECC and S/4HANA
  • Co-led the largest Vertex implementation in Europe (60+ countries)
  • Law degree with a tax major (KU Leuven), 8 years at Deloitte and Lenovo

Half an hour is enough to know whether it clicks
